New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance COVID‐19 Notice

March 27, 2020

Dear customer,

We are writing to provide you with a notice from the New Mexico Superintendent of Insurance. New Mexico insurance regulations require all insurance carriers to remind customers that while traditional health insurance may cover the care, items and services related to COVID‐19, long‐term care insurance does not.

As you know, long‐term care insurance is designed to help pay for the cost of care due to a chronic illness, injury or the effects of aging and provides coverage for services in your home or a facility when assistance is needed with personal care activities. Long‐term care insurance is not designed to cover critical care services provided by a doctor (or other health care professional) to treat or cure an illness, wound, or condition. These services are typically covered by traditional health insurance.

At this time of heightened concern for physical and financial well‐being, we want you to know how to access additional information and find answers to your questions. Please see the enclosed notice from the State of New Mexico for further information about health insurance, COVID‐19, and resources available to you.

During this constantly evolving situation presented by the COVID‐19 pandemic, we want to assure you – as a valued customer – that John Hancock is open for business and well‐positioned to navigate this challenge. We will continue providing the services you’ve come to count on from us and you can remain confident that any long‐term care reimbursements will continue as usual throughout this challenging time.

At our company’s core, we help people plan for their future and support them in uncertain times. The current situation is no exception. We are standing by you and we wish you and your family well. We appreciate the trust you have put in John Hancock and are committed to continuing to maintain the stability and standards you have come to expect.
